@rogers_jamieChristopher Nolan's Epic TheOdyssey just hit a historic number overseas: it is now the first R-rated film and only the 17th Hollywood movie to cross $1 billion internationally. The picture kicked off its eighth weekend abroad with an international cumulative total of $1.01 billion across 82 markets, yet Japan has not yet released the film as of SEP 11. When you combine that with the US box office cumulative total of $571.7 million, the current global cumulative total sits at $1.59 billion for a production budget of $250 million excluding marketing costs. Next week the film is expected to surpass Jurassic World's total to become Universal's highest-grossing film ever. IMAX screenings are extended through the end of September, and while a previous ceiling of $1.7 billion is now considered a floor, projections now indicate a global total between $1.7 billion and $1.9 billion. This surge in performance keeps the film strong despite being in its eighth weekend.
