The Last Wun

August 8, 2025 marked the release of The Last Wun, Gunna's sixth studio album and the final project under his current YSL Records contract. The 25-track collection spans 68 minutes and 53 seconds, merging melodic trap with distinct Afrobeats rhythms. Turbo produced the majority of the beats, joined by Kenny Stuntin, Evrgrn, Omar Grand, Yung Bleu, and Gunna himself. International collaborations anchor the sound, featuring Offset on "At My Purest," Burna Boy on "WGFT," Wizkid on "Forever Be Mine," Nechie on "I Can't Feel My Face," and Asake on "Satisfaction."

Commercially, the record made an immediate impact by debuting at No. 1 on Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart with approximately 80,000 units sold in its first week. This achievement secured Gunna's sixth consecutive No. 1 on that specific chart. The project launched 16 tracks onto the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart simultaneously, with the single "Just Say Dat" reaching No. 10. A Billboard fan poll shortly after release showed the album winning nearly 57% of the vote as the week's favorite new release, surpassing projects from MGK, Laufey, and the Jonas Brothers.

Recorded between 2024 and 2025, the album emerged during a period of significant legal tension surrounding the YSL RICO case. While Gunna accepted an Alford plea and was released in December 2022, his mentor Young Thug remained incarcerated until late 2024. The title The Last Wun sparked speculation about Gunna's future with the label, which he confirmed was accurate regarding his current deal. The track "Prototype" features lyrics widely interpreted as a response to a diss tweet previously issued by Young Thug before it was deleted. Speaking to Uproxx, Gunna described the creative process as organic rather than thematic: "It'll come to me just through life and just living... it's no theme." [แก้ไข]
