The Cleveland Cavaliers are a professional basketball team based in Cleveland, Ohio, competing in the National Basketball Association as a member of the Eastern Conference. Founded in 1970 as an expansion franchise, the team joined the NBA for the 1970–71 season, originally playing at the Cleveland Arena. The franchise moved to the Coliseum at Richfield in 1974 and later to their current home, Rocket Arena (originally Gund Arena, then Quicken Loans Arena), which opened in 1994.
