Atlanta Falcons

The Atlanta Falcons are a professional American football team based in Atlanta, Georgia, competing in the National Football League as a member of the National Football Conference South division. Founded in 1966 as an expansion franchise awarded to Rankin Smith Sr. for $8.5 million, the team has been a fixture of professional sports in the southeastern United States. The name "Falcons" was chosen through a fan contest, suggested by Julia Elliott of Griffin, Georgia.
