In 1774, on a rainy night in France, a young boy was kneeling in the mud. Cold rain soaked through his clothes. Ordinary people carried heavy burdens, while nobles in the church controlled enormous resources. At the same time, the Enlightenment began changing the way people thought. These ideas spread throughout France, but changing thoughts were only the beginning. The real pressure came from a growing financial crisis. Years of spending problems weakened the French government, and after Louis XVI became king, France continued facing serious economic challenges. Prices kept rising, life became harder for ordinary families. Eventually, the tension inside French society reached a breaking point. More and more people began demanding change. That change would later become one of the most important events in modern history. When the French Revolution began, different political groups fought over the future of France. the Jacobins, the Girondins, and the constitutional monarchists, all wanted to shape the country's direction. Among them, Robespierre slowly became one of the most influential figures. Later, he became known as the Incorruptible.
