Face-off claim is that conservative alternative media thrives on misinformation and conspiracy. So my first question about your claim is the scope of alternative media. Where is that line? Obviously, there's corporate press, there's Fox News, which is considered conservative. Then you have, say, Daily Wire with Ben Shapiro. They're considered to be maybe somewhere in the middle, so I'm just asking if you could define the parameters. So I feel like today in the conservative media ecosystem, all of these things kind of end up covering the same things. If I think of some of the largest stories that I would consider, misinformation. I'm thinking of like the Dominion voting machine stuff that was on Fox News but made its way to every alternative media platform. I'm thinking of stuff related to January 6th. I'm thinking of stuff related to COVID and vaccines. I'm thinking of stuff related to Ukraine and Israel. It seems like whatever misinformation exists, or even domestically stuff like the Epstein files, I feel like whatever big misinformation story exists on alternative conservative media also will be on mainstream conservative media as well. I suppose the funny thing is I wouldn't disagree with those statements. I would only say that I would make the exact same claim in the other direction. There's a bit of a difference in that the larger liberal institutions, you know, the corporate press outlets that have a left alignment don tend to pick up the way like Fox News did Dominion But when you look at the progressive left political space it is also rife with conspiracy and misinformation in a similar way It's hard to quantify which is worse, but I would argue that everyone does on the internet. I can't go 10 seconds on Instagram without seeing someone faking some kind of video. I gotta be honest, it's all fake. So I think it's tempting to say that it's all fake. I do agree that there's a huge problem right now on the far left media in terms of faking stuff, but I feel like that's just been a response to how jealous they are that the entire right wing has been able to fake so much misinformation for so long. So I would argue for instance, we had a huge conundrum in 2020 related to whether or not there was voter fraud with mail-in ballots. This has been investigated by a number of mainstream media figures, a number of alternative media figures, and then it's run through, you know, over 60 or so court cases and there was no evidence that ever materialized of any type of widespread voter fraud. Not only that, we saw that Fox News was in bed with the Trump administration in order to push misinformation about voter fraud, and then we also saw that once Trump was in office and he went to look for voter fraud, even though he sent the FBI, you know, running around to Fulton County and other places to seize voter rolls, no voter fraud stuff ever materialized. There might be some misinformation on the left, and especially the far left, but I can't think of any story that is as consequential or monumental or impactful as the voter fraud story, for instance. And I can think of a couple others that are on that scale.
