Rep. Tim Burchett of Tennessee and the House Oversight Committee is pushing for swift federal legislation against FLOCK cameras during a Fox News channel broadcast. He argues that private entities should not have access to this data or act as gatekeepers. If operators do not follow the Constitution, he says they shouldn't be able to track individuals, citing cases where people were followed 17,000 times. Burchett met with Tennessee sheriffs, DAs, and a U.S. Marshal who agreed to work on establishing guardrails. Without them, the technology could become a large net used across the country.

But again, it's the Constitution. You don't want them gone. You just want guardrails put in? It's the Constitution that needs to be followed. If they're not going to follow the Constitution, THEN IF YOU'RE GOING TO SEE THEIR FAMILIES, IF YOU'RE GOING TO SEE THEIR FAMILIES, THEN HECK, YEAH. I DON'T THINK THEY SHOULD BE ABLE TO FOLLOW THEIR GIRLFRIEND 17,000 TIMES WHERE WE'VE SEEN THESE CASES AND THINGS LIKE THAT. YOU'RE GOING TO SEE THAT ABUSE AND YOU'RE GOING TO SEE FLOCK. I DON'T THINK ANY SHAPE, FORM OR FASHION, SOME PRIVATE ENTITY SHOULD HAVE ACCESS TO THIS. I DON'T THINK THEY SHOULD BE THE GATE KEEPER. I THINK IT SHOULD BE YOUR THIS IS NOT A GOOD CASE. YOU KNOW, THEY ARE NOT A GOOD CASE. THEY WILL DO ANYTHING BETTER. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. THIS WILL BECOME SOME BIG HUGE NET THAT THEY WILL USE TO CAST OVER THE COUNTRY. IMAGINE IF THEY HAD THIS DURING COVID.
