Amit on Base and Robinhood

has been irrelevant for so long. Robinhood comes out, gets people excited, and Coinbase has to get their shit together, right? So I'm not anti-Coinbase. I think Brian Armstrong is amazing. I just always felt Robinhood was a more diversified business that had a better understanding of where the world was going and so many different elements. But, you know, I think they tried to build a social network that allowed you to like buy posts and use NFTs and native cryptocurrencies inside of the base app to be able to reward people. I think that was the right intention. The execution of it just didn't play out. And there's a host of reasons why the execution didn't play out, but that's on Coinbase to kind of figure out what to do. And Robynut's going to have their own set of issues with trying to navigate that. But yeah, it's good that there's competition, right? Because you're getting base to try to step up and see. I mean, the fact that FOMO has tens of thousands of people every day on their platform, talking, exchanging back and forth, right? Viewing updates. There's like real engagement. I don't think base even has a 10th of that. Like, I don't know their metrics, but I'm like, no one's excited about that. No one's posting screenshots of base. And so I think that competition is good, but it also begs the question how base is gonna navigate this.
