Knowing what you've already watched makes the connections, references and Stephen King mythology hit completely differently. That's why I'm suggesting a specific chronological watch order for the Stephen King universe to really feel just how interconnected it all is. You start with The Shawshank Redemption set in the period 1947, 1966, then move to IT: Welcome to Derry which lands in 1962. Next comes Salem's Lot in 1975, followed by The Shining released in 1980. The timeline continues with IT, Chapter One from 1989, IT, Chapter Two in 2016, and then the series Castle Rock dropped in 2018. And when you finally reach Castle Rock, pay close attention because prior knowledge alters the perception of everything there. This isn't just about watching; it's about realizing how the pieces fit together. After that final step comes Doctor Sleep released in 2019. This is the kind of rewatch that makes you realize just how interconnected King's world can feel.
