Japan foreign exchange reserves drop

Between July 30 and August 26, Japan utilized ¥15.4 trillion to support the yen, a move that drained $79.6 billion from reserves in August. The total value of Japan's foreign exchange reserves fell to $1.2 trillion, representing the largest monthly decrease recorded since the year 2000. A portion of the funds was used for intervention purposes.
