THE GHOST IN THE SHELL 2026 country names

For the 2026 release of 'THE GHOST IN THE SHELL', the Japanese anime swaps out real-world country names for fictional ones based on Masamune Shirow's original manga. The United States becomes the MAG Union, while the USSR is called Volgarena. Israel turns into Ghorantl and Syria gets renamed Mesamia in this version. It isn't a new trick either since previous Ghost in the Shell adaptations also used similar substitute fictionalized countries. However, the Latin American Spanish dub keeps the original country references instead. Dub director Daniel Lacy confirmed that decision was made to stay faithful to the manga for that specific localization.
