Angel Di Maria still remembers the first real thing he bought when the money started coming in: a black Peugeot 206. The cash came from the Libertadores prize pot after a breakout debut season, and he walked it right out of the dealership. One problem, he had no clue how to drive. His dad had to get it home while Di Maria waited, friends already gathered outside, because he'd been telling them about the car and couldn't just stand there staring at it. They went around the block, the car stalling at every corner, jerking and revving, Di Maria convinced he was about to wreck the whole thing.
