Alessandro Bastoni has revealed that while he was in Atalanta's youth setup he came close to quitting football entirely. He spent every weekend on the bench and it left him on the verge of walking away from the game. His father told him that if he was going to give up they should go and enroll him in school the next day. That night he stayed awake until morning thinking it over. The following day he delivered the hardest training session of his life.
