Mount Everest is recognized as the tallest mountain from sea level, standing at 8,848.86 meters, but Mauna Kea in Hawaii takes the crown when measured from its base on the ocean floor. This Hawaiian peak reaches 10,210 meters in total height, exceeding Everest by roughly 1,400 meters. Only a small part of Mauna Kea rises above the water.
