the Florida Department of State just confirmed no recount will happen in the Florida 7th District race, locking in a win for Republican Ryan Elijah over Democrat Bale Dalton. the final tallies show Elijah with 161,300 votes and Dalton at 159,669, creating a lead of 1,631 votes that translates to a 0.503% margin. since that gap exceeds the state's automatic recount threshold of 0.5%, officials say overseas ballots arriving later won't mathematically alter the result. this district spans all of Seminole County and part of Volusia, areas that also voted for Donald Trump by 12 points in the 2024 presidential election despite Democrats trying hard to flip it this week. Elijah released a statement saying they secured a winning margin and are honored by the faith people in Central Florida placed in him, adding he looks forward to heading to Washington this week for orientation.
